The Royal Numismatic Society - Library
Founded in 1836
The Society Library
The RNS library is available to members of the Royal and British Numismatic Societies, and contains some 7,000 volumes and many auction catalogues and periodicals. It is housed within the Warburg Institute (which also holds some of the Society' s meetings).
The Library is open on Tuesday afternoons, from 12 noon until 5pm, except over Christmas and New Year, when the Warburg is closed.
It is also open on certain Saturday afternoons, coinciding with the dates of the main coin fairs.
Please note that the Library may occasionally close earlier on days of Society meetings, normally the third Tuesday of the month, October to June. A member of either the Royal or the British Numismatic Society will be in attendance, and visitors must be prepared to show their membership cards.
Books may be borrowed by members for up to three months, but must not be taken out of the United Kingdom.
Members may also arrange to collect and return borrowed books outside Library opening hours, by calling at the Warburg reception desk. Requests for loans and returned books should be clearly marked for the attention of the Librarian, the Numismatic Library. Members only requiring a reference or a particular passage from a book may request photocopies to be sent to them by post: standard photocopying charges apply.
